“Great teaching is great listening. ” - PBL Associates “If, in instructing a child, you are vexed with it for want of adroitness, try, if you have never tried before, to write with your left hand, and then remember that a child is all left hand. ” - J. F. Boyse “Recently, I went to a center for teenage girls where the teacher asked what they would like to discuss most: Human Biology? Care for their infant? Physiology of childbirth? Family planning? The girls showed no interest. Then the teacher asked, “Would you like to discuss how to say no to your boyfriend without losing his love?” All hands shot up.” - Eunice Shriver Kennedy |
Project Based Learning - Follow Up CoachingHigh quality teacher professional development takes time and follow through. PBL Associates is committed to the success of your school, and we try to avoid the 'drive by workshop.' When you begin to work with us, we recommend that 3-6 months after the initial session, we return to see your students and teachers in action during the normal school day, immediately followed by a Teacher Professional Development day in which we can work with all of your teachers on the observations from the previous day. This allows us to speak specifically to the needs of your school, teachers, parents, and students. Education has an incredible amount of inertia, and we work patiently to help all teachers grow towards a collaborative, constructionist learning environment that combines rigorous achievemnt with 21st century skill building. We understand that this growth requires an ongoing support system, and we work with all of our school districts to provide that consistent support.
